A related item I've read recently:
"Why A Married Priesthood Won't Remedy the Priest Shortage" by Patricia Dixon, wife of a Protestant pastor before the family entered the Catholic Church.

I feel that such questions (i.e. whether a married priesthood increases interest in the vocation) are missing the point of what it means to be a priest.
A person of high spirituality is someone who is able to separate themselves on a physical level in order to connect with the divine. Such an act is impossible when animalistic urges (such as the desire to procreate) exist.
